The #1 question you should be asking any coach. We are all wildly different. Finding the perfect coach will make the journey infinitely more enjoyable.
So what kind of coach am I? Hands on. Forgiving but encouraging. Real and direct. I'm not perfect and I don't expect you to be. I do however, expect you to give it your best. I'm not the coach that will make you run 13 miles on your daughters birthday, I'm the coach that will ask you to take a rest day and configure a schedule to accommodate that. I work hard to build a structure that allows success while still maintaining the things that truly matter, like family, spouses, friends, and a healthy balance of the finer things in life.
I'm an uncommon coach for an uncommon athlete. I'm not coaching for the same reasons many are. Not that they are wrong, I'm just here for a vision I had while being an athlete searching for a coach, just like you as you read this. I started triathlon out of shape, 2 shoulder surgeries, and desperately needing something to build towards. I had to google how to shift my bike. 5 years later, I was on Team USA. I've walked your path, and I take immense joy in helping you find the best and most balanced route with what i've learned.
Not sure if you are right for me? Think you are perfect for me? Not sure? Doesn't matter :) I interview each athlete personally. Generally in person over a couple hours talking about life, philosophy, family, career, and a million other things. At the end of the conversation, i'll invite you to join Genesis, or I will recommend the best path for you.
The best time was yesterday. The second best time is now.
Athletes are incredibly intricate with varying degrees of availability, fitness, focus, goals, and versions of success. Some athletes require a very hands-on coach to navigate work, family, stress, and dozens of other things while another athlete may require a simple check-in occasionally. In an attempt to give athletes exactly what they need, I offer several different packages. Please click over to the pricing page to learn more.
From form assessment to weekly planning with a race focused structure, Genesis also handles individual sports. I've helped athletes conquer international bike trips, 100k mountain bike events, local races, cyclocross, 5k open water events, flying pig, and many more not mentioned here.
Offered to monthly athletes built in to program or available in additional blocks, I also offer this service to non-monthly athletes looking for a switch up from their daily routine. These personal training sessions are as diverse as you are and fit to focus on things that are important to you.
Mainly focused on Genesis monthly athletes, we occasionally have spots for our group training sessions. These events are only available to Genesis friends/family and must be vouched and vetted before approved for training.
Included in monthly athlete programs, this session is centered around all things racing. From race registration, nutrition, power/HR plan, course analysis, and all things between. This can be formed from scratch, or be an outsider review of your current program to get some new eyes on the program.
Team Camps, Stay Camps, and Personal Camps are all available through Genesis. Contact us with additional questions on camp availability as these change throughout the season.
